I... I don't hate it?

I saw the picture and thought the Venza was back.

Reminds me of JDM minivans.

At this point why not get a sienna

‘Le sigh. Whyyyy don’t they at least feature it in a cool color! I do like that side character line, though.

Venza was better looking that this. Not exciting, but cleaner and less over-styled and gimmicky.

It’d be amazing if that was a direct fit / part number for the Avalon grill.
![]() 02/06/2020 at 12:59 |

This looks like they tried to bend a bumper from a bigger car to fit onto this one.
![]() 02/06/2020 at 12:59 |

it looks better there then on the avalon. still not great, but better? ish?

Exactly!

A new one for the lame local TV spots calling the Highlander “aggressively sophisticated”.
That thing has enough styling for at least 5 normal cars. 1958 redux, but with more trickle down.

Looks like the bastard offspring of a Subaru Forester and a Avalon.
![]() 02/06/2020 at 13:11 |

I like it a lot more than the regular one
![]() 02/06/2020 at 13:12 |

It’s not bad. The last-gen Highlander was truly nice looking, but this is an improvement over the current gen.
It’s just got a certain awkwardness to it. Like it needs a Mitsubishi badge.
I am 110% OVER all the combo black/silver painted wheels. I haven’t seen a good one yet. These are like 5-spoke rims with a bunch of creeps photobombing.

“Dynamically Sauve”, “Energetically Efficient”, See! I too can make up bullshit marketing words!

A, well...
I guess the regular trim is more my speed but i see some Avalon TRD in there and I don't mind...

I am surprised I haven’t heard those. However,I have seen “stylish” for the Corolla, “adventurous” for the RAV4, and “dynamic” and “bold” for the Camry, and I think “exhilirating” for the Avalon. The PNW Toyota org lays it on thick.
Honda does it here, too - apparently now a CRV is now a choice for a “rebel ” and a workaday Civic sedan is “rebellious”
![]() 02/06/2020 at 13:42 |

well, at least there will be fewer paint chips on the bumper
![]() 02/06/2020 at 13:50 |

Agreed. I believe it was lower wider look that recalled the Venza to my mind.

The small grille is not that bad. Then the bottom is trying to filter krill out of the water. You almost had it, Toyota

Nothing is more rebellious than a highly reliable and economically responsible family car!
Truly Honda understands normcore at its deepest levels.

I needs chrome accents on the black grill. Then it'll be all bling bling Toyota style.

I suppose it could be considered edgy compared to its Toyota counterparts, but that’s it. If you want to live on the edge in beige suburbia , maybe go to Mitsu or VW.

Oh God Toyota, stop
And here they thought they had gotten past the whole unintended acceleration thing...

I wonder how the SCCA would class it. Give it a little bit of low and some more tire and it would probably do alright.

People complain about everything. Audi? Ugly grille, bmw, same grille. Kia ugly generic plastic grille, Hyundai also generic looks cheap plastic. This suv looks good and reliability beats everyone. Of course I have an RC 350. RX350 and that ugly cheap material expensive cost Infiniti GLA clone. Can't wait until that lease is up.

Style is subjective. You appear to be a Toyolex fanboy, so, well, there we go. It’ll likely be as reliable as can be, but sweet baby jeezus, this is not a good looking vehicle. This is the 2020 equivalent of a 1958 Oldsmobile. The styling may have kitsch value, but that’s about it. Faux aggressive face with blobby side detailing - maybe for the less shouty suburban sports/hoverparents who won’t go all the way into a BOF SUV. In 25 years, nobody will look back on this and say “that was nice”.

Jeezus.. Another Toyota gets the baleen whale front end treatment.
![]() 02/07/2020 at 21:30 |

right - the front valence and rear fender flares are a bit overdone but the grill is solid and the rest is decent. Better than ANY of the droopy nose styled vehicles. 1.5 thumbs up.
